Fragrance Review - Lola Marc Jacobs EDP

Today's post is a little review on Lola by Marc Jacobs. I had heard this talked about loads but hadn't thought it would be my cup of tea! However, I saw it half price at Boots and couldn't resist picking it up!!

I've found that I have been wearing this at least three times a week since I've bought it. I just can't get enough!

(And this is coming from a girl who isn't particularly enamored with any of MJ's other perfumes!)

Lola's bottle is a tad tacky, but I think it's meant to look like a bit of fun. I have the 50ml which retails for £46.50 and can be bought here: http://www.boots.com/en/Marc-Jacobs-Lola-Eau-de-Parfum-50ml_954602/

Top Notes: Pink Peppercorn, Pear, Ruby Red Grapefruit
Middle Notes: Rose, Fuschia, Peony, Geranium
Base Notes: Vanilla, Warm Tonka Bean, Creamy Musk.

This perfume has excellant sillage and longevity, I think for a normal every day application I use around 4 sprays.

This is very floral, but the vanilla stops it being over powering. I think the demographic is 18-30 year olds and think it fits perfectly into this age range.
It is nice and sweet, but with a lovely depth.

February 2014 Monthly Favourites!

Here is a list of my most loved products of February 2014. :-)

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua (B20) Foundation
  • Travel friendly (so light and easily portable), demi-matt finish, easily buildable, lasts all day, good colour match and blends like a dream. I have no complaints apart from the price and that the bottle is opaque so you can't tell how much is left. I lent this to my mum for a holiday and she loved it so much I had a bit of a fight on my hands to get it back! I think I'm going to treat her to her own bottle for mothers day.
NARS Kalahari Duo Eyeshadow
  • Perfect colours. A bronze and a taupe that are appropriate for any outfit or look. They can be dressed up or down for a natural look. Creamy, buttery textures that are easy to blend. A tiny bit shimmery but with no fall out or chunky glitter. Perfect neutrals.
Estee Lauder Double Wear Black Mascara
  • This is a repurchase after trying a variety of other mascaras for a while and I don't know why I ever strayed. It's perfect for me; separates, lengthens and adds volume to my lashes. It doesn't smudge or flake at all during the day and comes off easily with hot water and cleanser in the evening.

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Monte Carlo Lipstick

  • Perfect sheer, red lipstick with a nice sheen. It's moisturizing and lasts a good few hours without topping up. It fades perfectly and leaves a pretty stain on the lips.

Marc Jacobs Lola EDP

  • Nice, floral bouquet with a vanilla base. It smells warm and inviting and just plain YUM! Lasts all day and I get a lot of compliments when wearing this perfume.

Fragrance Review - Lancome Miracle

As a teenager, my mum always wore Lancome - Miracle. It has a pretty clear glass simplistic bottle with pink fragrance and the price tag is reasonable at RRP £56 for the 50ml, however, it is normally on offer on theperfumeshop or fragrance direct, or during the Debenhams sales. I picked up the 30ml bottle for £18 in Debenhams last summer.

You can purchase it here: http://www.theperfumeshop.com/fcp/product//lancome/miracle/2644

Top Notes: Lychee and Freesia
Heart Notes: Magnolia, Jasmine, Ginger and Pepper
Base Notes: Amber and Musk

It is a fresh spicey but floral fragrance, which sparks energetic feelings. It launched in 2000, and was created by Harry Fremont and Alberto Morillas.

This fragrance changes dramatically depending on who wears it. On my mum it smells warm, inviting and feminine, however on my skin it smells very spicy and the note of pepper develops quickly.

For my tastes, it isn't quite sweet enough and I prefer a vanilla base, however, I keep it and spray it every now and again for a reminder of my mum or if I fancy wearing something different.

The official description is:
"Joyful. Empowering. Inspiration. MIRACLE is a sudden and marvelous revelation that life is extroadinary, that life is a miracle".

Fragrance Review - Vera Wang Lovestruck

I purchased the 50ml Vera Wang Lovestruck fragrances after reading all the rave reviews. Plus, looking at the notes and realizing how close they match my other favourites I thought it was a sure thing that i would love it.... however when it was delivered I found myself disappointed.

You can purchase it here: http://www.fragrancedirect.co.uk/vera-wang/vera-wang-lovestruck-edp-spray-50ml/invt/0037268 on special offer for £23.95. The normal RRP is £48 for 50ml.

This is a musky, sweet fragrance with a hint of floral. It smells like Priness's older sister.

However, the downside I find to this perfume is that it has very low sillage, and not very long staying power. But, if you overspray to overcome the sillage problem it quickly becomes very sickly smelling.

I dislike the bottle - I think it's incredibly tacky and makes the bottle difficult to travel with. Some people may like it as it looks girly, however, when put in place next to my other 'classier' bottles in the collection, it makes it look incredibly cheap.

I just think this is a kind-of meh fragrance. I quite like the initial smell but it doesn't stay around long enough on my skin for me to really enjoy it. I also think it's replicated in quite a lot of similar fragrances, and just don't think it's worth the RRP £48 pricetag!

Has anyone else tried this fragrance? What do you think of it?

Top Notes: Pink Guava, Angelica Flower, Mandarin.
Heart Notes: Jasmin Sambac, Tuberose, Lotus Blossom
Base Notes: Sheer Musk, Woods, Vanilla.

Fragrance Review - Miss Dior Eau De Parfum

I'd heard a lot about the famous Miss Dior Cherie and was desperate to try it. When I trotted along to Boots back in October I noticed there was no Miss Dior Cherie, just a Miss Dior! I know Miss Dior Cherie was reformulated a couple of times, and I'm not sure whether this time they also reformulated it again or just changed the name. Alas, this is the one I picked up:

The box is white with a pearlescent metallic colour around the box and with the writing on the box.

The bottle I purchased was the 50ml EDP. The packaging is adorable! It is a rectangular heavy glass bottle, with a frosted print on the bottom and a frosted CD on the lid. The lid has a silver bow attached and there is also a CD imprint on the pump.

The scent is difficult to describe, I haven't smelt much similar before but although there is a very different scent, in a lot of ways it reminds me of Chanel's Mademoiselle EDP.

It smells expensive, classy, sophisticated and like it would suit going out for dinner or a cocktail date. It is an extremely feminine smell. I feel when I wear this it must also be teamed with red lipstick. It has strong sillage and lasting power. On me, it lasts at least 12+ hours and if sprayed more than 2 or 3 times it could suffocate people around you. Should be used with caution!

It retails at £66 for the 50ml EDP normally but, at the moment (21st Feb '14) it's on offer in Boots for £58.50 for the 50ml EDP. http://www.boots.com/en/MISS-DIOR-Eau-de-Parfum-50ml_1190408/

Top Notes: Italian Mandarin, Strawberry
Heart Notes: Jasmine, Rose
Base Notes: Oak Moss, Patchouli, Amber

The official description is:
"A fragrance for an elegant and spirited young woman in love". I definately agree!

Fragrance Review - Dior Addict Eau Fraiche

This week I found a steal! It was Dior's Addict Eau Fraiche 50ml in John Lewis for £35!! I'm not sure why it was priced as this comparatively low price, especially as the 20ml was £36. Anyway, I had to snap it up.

It normally RRP's at £52 for the 50ml EDT and can be purchased here:  http://www.theperfumeshop.com/fcp/product/womens-perfumes/dior/addict%20eau%20fra%C3%AEche/1641

I am a complete packaging junkie. I like bottles to have a classy appearance and normally gravitate towards pink or purple bottles. I like them to match my other bottles, as silly as that sounds, picking up that bottle and having a spritz each morning is important to me, so I place a high importance on the bottle!

Firstly, the box is lovely! It was hard to capture in a picture but it has a holographic effect which shows a purple and orange striped line through the box where the light hits. It's lovely.

The bottle is the same style as Dior's Addict, but a glass see through bottle with a pinkypurple tinge at the base. It has a silver cap, and you twist the CD circle at the top of the lid clockwise to open the bottle.

The fragrance  is a nice, light, refreshing smell and I can tell it's going to perfect for summer. It is a floral fruity fragrance that isn't too sweet. I think it smells quite citrusy, and a lot of people say it's similar to Versace Bright Crystal

The lasting power is around 5 hours and as the perfume doesn't have very strong sillage you can definitely repsray without walking around in a cloud of perfume.

Top Notes: Calabrian Bergamot
Middle Notes: Freesia and Lilly of the Valley
Base Notes: White Musk

If I could sum up this perfume in one line it would be:

Sparkly fruity floral fragrance perfect for tea parties!
